New Board Vice President
Bart with Fishing Friend, Jerry at WHCR September Retreat
January 2025 | Idaho2Fly
Meet Bart Shadbolt
Bart Shadbolt, a guest at our September retreat in 2024, began volunteering for Idaho2Fly almost immediately after his retreat experience. In 2025, he joined our leadership team and took on the newly created position of Activities Coordinator. Bart has been instrumental in planning and implementing new and meaning activities for our guests, including upcoming new fishing day outings and new photography classes for our guests. We are excited to announce that in January of this year, Bart joined our board and accepted the role of Vice President.
Meet Bart: “A native of the Pacific Northwest, my wife and I moved to Boise in 1996. Married to my best friend Melisa for 40 years, we have three grown children. A sales professional for over 30 years, I also am a voracious reader, amateur historian and hobbyist in addition to my love of fly fishing.
I was diagnosed with colon cancer in October 2017, had surgery and then went through chemotherapy treatment until May 2018. I am fortunate and blessed to be cancer-free since.
I was introduced to Idaho2Fly at the Western Idaho Fly Fishing Expo in 2024. By then I thought my cancer journey was past, but after talking with the men at the booth I came to realize that our cancer journey never truly ends. Cancer forever changes you. I attended a retreat in September of 2024. After witnessing first-hand, the impact this event and facilitators made on myself and those in attendance, I knew I wanted to be a part of this organization. Volunteering with Idaho2Fly has been one of the most rewarding things I have been a part of.”
