FLY FISHING RETREATS FOR MEN WITH CANCER

Thank you so much for this life changing experience; I am a better man for it.
— Idaho2Fly Guest

Idaho2Fly provides an opportunity for men with cancer to get away from all the day-to-day worries and challenges of a cancer diagnosis by offering retreats in beautiful settings where they can experience the thrill of fly fishing in Idaho’s most iconic waters. But our retreats aren’t just about catching fish, they’re about finding hope, healing, camaraderie, brotherhood and finding joy in spite of cancer. Men fighting cancer need more than treatment, they need connection, community and a chance to enjoy life again.

Idaho2Fly’s unique approach, fly fishing retreats and year-round programs create a powerful platform for men to navigate cancer with resilience and community.

Retreat FAQs

  • Men who reside in Idaho with any type of cancer in any stage of treatment or recovery are welcome to apply. Fourteen men are accepted for each of the four retreats we offer. Retreats may be attended only once so we can help as many men with cancer as possible — but we offer many other programs and activities year-round including biweekly coffee gatherings, numerous one day fishing outings, family night at a Boise Hawks game, fly fishing classes, art & photography classes and more.

  • No — Fishing experience is not necessary. In fact, many men who attend our retreats have never used a fly rod and some have never fished at all.  Our trained Fishing Friends will teach you everything you need to know and guide you every step of the way.

  • Nope! We supply everything you need for fly fishing — boots, waders, rods & reels — No Worries!

  • Nothing! All meals, lodging and equipment are provided. Thanks to the donations and support from our partners, friends and the community at large, our fly fishing retreats are all expenses-paid for men with cancer, except for your cost of travel to and from the retreat. We can help coordinate car pooling.

  • You just need to have your treating physician complete the Activity Release Form, to document that you are physically able to participate in retreat activities. Also make sure to let our Guest Coordinator know of any  assistance or accommodations you may need.

  • Our retreat guests range in age from 18 to late 80s.
